New Delhi : Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha Member Er. Gulam Ali Khatana on Thursday raised concerns in the Upper House over the continued delay in the recruitment of Assistant Professors in Gojri and Pahari subjects in the universities of Jammu and Kashmir.
The BJP MP expressed concern over the incomplete recruitment process for Gojri and Pahari language positions, which have been pending since 2013. Despite finalizing appointments in other disciplines, interviews for these two languages have not yet been conducted. He emphasized that Gojri and Pahari are linked to communities recognized under constitutional provisions, making their promotion and academic development a constitutional obligation. The MP highlighted that the ongoing delays have negatively affected students, research scholars, and eligible candidates, describing the situation as discriminatory. He pointed out that speakers of these languages have historically contributed to peace and stability in the region, and their lack of academic representation sends a detrimental message to communities that have supported the nation. He urged the government to expedite the pending interviews to ensure justice and equitable academic recognition for Gojri and Pahari languages.
