LoP Sunil Sharma strongly condemns J&K Budget calls it “disgusting”, disappointing

Jammu :Leader of Opposition in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly and senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma today launched a scathing attack on the 2026-27 Budget presented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, describing it as “disgusting and disappointing”.
In a strongly worded reaction Sunil Sharma expressed strong discontent with the recent budget, claiming it has undermined the hopes of various societal groups in Jammu & Kashmir. He criticized the National Conference-led government for producing a budget that favors constituencies represented by ruling party MLAs, while neglecting the pressing concerns of the general populace. Sharma highlighted the budget’s failure to address long-standing issues faced by daily wage workers, who have received inadequate support instead of meaningful relief or regularization. He pointed out the lack of serious commitment to creating employment opportunities for the region’s unemployed youth and noted that promises related to poverty alleviation and the welfare of marginalized groups remain unfulfilled. Allegations were made regarding the selective allocation of funds to benefit National Conference strongholds, suggesting that the budget serves the interests of NC MLAs rather than the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Sharma criticized the government for presenting centrally sponsored schemes as its own accomplishments, while lacking substantial new initiatives or relief measures for the citizens. He characterized the budget as a significant betrayal of the people, affecting all social classes, including daily wage earners, unemployed youth, middle-class families, and economically disadvantaged groups. In response, the Leader of Opposition called for the government to reassess its priorities and implement concrete measures to tackle unemployment, regularize daily wage workers’ services, and ensure equitable development across the Union Territory. Sharma reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to advocating for the rights and welfare of all citizens in Jammu & Kashmir, pledging to raise these critical issues within and outside the Legislative Assembly.
