Productivity, capacity and technology at core of Budget 2026–27: Tarun Chugh

Jammu, 06 February 2026:
BJP National General Secretary and J&K Prabhari Tarun Chugh, along with J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, CA, and Leader of Opposition in J&K Assembly Sunil Sharma, addressed a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
J&K BJP General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Gopal Mahajan, District Jammu President Adv. Rajesh Gupta, and District Jammu South President Naresh Singh Jasrotia were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the media, Tarun Chugh said that for the last 11 years, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi–led Union Government has been consistently working to strengthen the economic backbone of the country and improve the lives of common citizens. He said the government’s focus has remained on robust economic policies, massive infrastructure expansion, simplification of business processes, and reduction of tax burden, ensuring inclusive and sustainable growth.
Tarun Chugh stated that Budget 2026–27, the first budget presented from the Kartavya Bhavan, reflects Prime Minister Modi’s vision and serves as a clear blueprint for Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He described the budget as a milestone document that charts the nation’s future growth trajectory, ensuring that citizens, entrepreneurs, industrialists, farmers, and youth progress together. He emphasized that the Modi government’s clear message is long-term development over short-term populism, and that this budget lays a strong and ambitious foundation for Viksit Bharat 2047.
Highlighting India’s economic transformation, Tarun Chugh said that over the last 12 years, the Indian economy has become stable, strong, and globally reliable, which forms the backbone of this budget. He noted that more than 350 reforms have already been implemented, making both business operations and daily life easier for citizens. The budget, he said, focuses sharply on employment generation, boosting production, and enhancing youth skills, aligning economic growth with human development.
He further stated that the Modi government has anchored the budget on three core duties: accelerating fast and sustainable growth by enhancing productivity, building capacities to meet people’s aspirations, and strengthening good governance through advanced technologies, including Artificial Intelligence.
Tarun Chugh highlighted the announcement of seven high-speed rail corridors, to be developed as “Growth Connectors,” including Mumbai–Pune, Pune–Hyderabad, Hyderabad–Bengaluru, Hyderabad–Chennai, Chennai–Bengaluru, Delhi–Varanasi, and Varanasi–Siliguri. These corridors, he said, will directly boost trade, agricultural produce movement, tourism, employment opportunities, and national connectivity.
Focusing on Jammu & Kashmir, Tarun Chugh said that the Modi government has ensured that development in border and sensitive regions like J&K is integrated with national security. The increased central assistance to Jammu & Kashmir, he said, clearly demonstrates the Union Government’s continued commitment to the people of the UT. He criticized the Omar Abdullah-led government, stating that it has merely copy-pasted the benefits of the Union Budget while failing to discharge its own responsibilities effectively.
He said that increased capital expenditure on roads, tunnels, power, and logistics in Jammu & Kashmir will significantly boost local employment. Promotion of tourism will directly strengthen Kashmir’s economy, especially benefiting youth and small entrepreneurs. The allocation of ₹12.2 lakh crore towards capital expenditure on infrastructure will further integrate Jammu & Kashmir with the national growth story.
Tarun Chugh emphasized that strengthening the MSME sector will provide fresh support to Kashmir’s artisans, weavers, and small industries. Initiatives to connect khadi, handicrafts, and local products with larger markets are especially crucial for hilly and border states. He said that under the Modi government, the youth of Kashmir, who once suffered under Congress misrule, are now empowered with education, technology, and opportunities—holding laptops instead of stones and contributing to nation-building.
He further stated that the government’s policy from education to employment is focused not merely on degrees but on meaningful jobs. Strengthening of the healthcare infrastructure, including dedicated health provisions within the budget, will bring relief to people living in remote and far-flung areas. The budget, he said, maintains strong financial discipline, with a fiscal deficit target of 4.3%, reflecting responsible governance.
Calling Budget 2026–27 a budget of trust, Tarun Chugh said it inspires confidence among taxpayers, investors, and states alike. He said the budget balances security at the borders with prosperity on the ground, giving a new direction to natural tourism by bringing untapped areas of Jammu & Kashmir onto the tourism map. He added that new policies will ensure that agricultural produce from J&K reaches final markets efficiently, while historic schemes for dairy and poultry farming, animal healthcare, youth, sports, farmers, women empowerment, and employment generation will transform the region’s socio-economic landscape.
In his concluding remarks, J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, CA, said that Budget 2026–27 is a visionary and people-centric budget that strengthens Jammu & Kashmir’s integration with the national development agenda. He stated that the focus on infrastructure, tourism, MSMEs, healthcare, and youth empowerment will create sustainable livelihoods and long-term prosperity in the Union Territory, reaffirming the Modi government’s unwavering commitment to peace, progress, and inclusive growth in Jammu & Kashmir.
