Drug Peddler arrested in Ang, Contraband Substance Recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Anantnag and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday Police said that Police at a checkpoint at Kullar Hirpora intercepted a suspect Basit Iqbal, who was found in possession of 5.120 kilograms of a substance resembling Bung Boosa . Iqbal was then and there arrested and taken to the Police Station Pahalgam, where he remains in custody. A case under FIR No. 5/2026 has been registered in this connection and further investigations are underway. In its statement police emphasized its commitment to create a drug-free society and appealed people to assist it by sharing any drug-related activities, adding therein that this collaborative effort is aimed at protecting the youth from the detrimental effects of drug abuse.
