Speaker, Priya visit Bhour Camp park

Jammu: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta Thursday directed the Department of Floriculture to prepare Detailed Project Report (DPR) for development of Bhour Camp Garden and submit the same to the concerned for sanction.

The instruction was given by the Speaker during his tour to Bhour Camp Garden.

Minister of State for Tourism, Education and Floriculture, Priya Sethi also accompanied the Speaker during the visit.

The Speaker and Minister took stock of the facilities available in the park besides taking a detailed appraisal about the upgradation and improvement works of the park.

The Speaker said the government is making all out efforts to promote Jammu as an independent tourist destination and up gradation and improvement of the Bhour camp park with best of amenities shall help to  improve  tourist footfall here and also help  promote the local economy. He asked the concerned departments to work in tandem and ensure the works are completed in a time bound manner to provide perquisite amenities to the tourists.

Priya Sethi emphasized upon the concerned officers of Floriculture  department  to plant different varieties of flowers in the available area which she said will enhance the beauty as well as to generate revenue by selling the flowers as there is a scope of commercial use of flowers as upcoming season is apt for use of flowers. She asked to take develop nursery for catering the   supply of buds and saplings  of  Tullips    and other varieties of flowers .

Director Floriculture Jammu, Babila Rakwal apprised the Minister of the steps underway to improve amenities in the park for attracting more tourists here. She said the Park is spread over 425 Kanal of land out of which 20 kanal has been marked  for parking purposes.

Among other initiatives to improve facilities it was given out that about 200 street lights have been installed in the park so far and areas in the park have been marked to set up rose garden with varied varieties of roses. She said work on developing the water bodies and fountains is in progress.

Among others, District Development Commissioner, Jammu Kumar Rajiv Ranjan , Assistant Commissioner Development Jammu, Executive Engineer Floriculture  and other officers of various Departments including Floriculture  accompanied the Speaker during his tour.
