Baramulla : A One-Day Capacity Building Training Program for Cook-cum-Helpers under PM POSHAN was successfully conducted at Higher Secondary School (HSS), Gingal, with an aim to strengthen food safety, hygiene, nutrition standards, and professional cooking practices in schools.
The training programme was conducted by the faculty from the Indian Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Rajbagh, Srinagar. Around 40 Cook-cum-Helpers from Zone Chandanwari actively participated in the training.
The program was held under the overall supervision of Mohammad Amin Khan, Principal (Cluster Head), HSS Gingal, and Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Chandanwari, who closely monitored the proceedings to ensure effective implementation of the training objectives.
Principal HSS Gingal, in his address, emphasized the pivotal role played by Cook-cum-Helpers in safeguarding students’ health and wellbeing and stressed adherence to hygiene and food safety nor He highlighted the critical role of capacity building in improving the quality, hygiene, and nutritional value of meals served to students.
A professional team from IHM Rajbagh imparted hands-on practical training, live demonstrations, and expert guidance focusing on safe and hygienic cooking practices, nutritional standards under PM POSHAN, Proper food handling and storage techniques.
As part of the training, a Cooking Competition was also organized to assess the skills and learning outcomes of the participants, who were also felicitated at the end of the program.
The program marked a significant step towards strengthening the PM POSHAN initiative and enhancing the quality of mid-day meals served to school children in Zone Chandanwari.
