Awantipora: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler and also recovered contraband substances from his possession during a naka checking at Chersoo area of Awantipora.
In a statement issued here on Thursday Police said that a police team from Police Post Toll Plaza during a routine check intercepted a suspect identified as Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shaksaz and during search recovered a total of 48 grams of charas-like substance, 40 grams of charas powder-like substance, and 315 grams of bhung chura from his possession. Following the arrest, Shaksaz was taken to Police Station Awantipora, where he is in custody. A case has been registered under FIR No. 28/2026 at Police Station Awantipora, and further investigations are underway. In its statement police emphasized its commitment to combat drug-related issues in society and appealed people to assist by reporting any information regarding drug peddling or other illegal activities to facilitate prompt action.
