Kathua: Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Government Degree College (GLDM-GDC) Hiranagar on Wednesday organized a one-day sensitisation and awareness workshop on the mental well-being of students through its Psychological Counselling Cell.
The programme was held under the patronage of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Pragya Khanna, who highlighted the growing academic and social pressures faced by students in the contemporary environment. She emphasized the importance of mental well-being and shared preventive measures and coping strategies to help students manage stress and maintain emotional balance.
Medical Officer, Government Hospital Hiranagar Dr. Neha Sharma was the resource person. She delivered an informative lecture on stress management and mental health. She underscored the significance of self-care, emotional awareness and timely support. The interactive mode of the session enabled the resource person to address academic, social and personal concerns raised by the students.
Members of the Psychological Counselling Cell, Prof. Bharat Bhushan from the Department of Music and Prof. Namrata from the Department of Geography, highlighted the role of counselling initiatives in fostering a supportive and healthy academic environment. Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Assistant Professor, Hindi, also addressed the students and encouraged them to build mental resilience and positive thinking.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Harvinder Kour, Nodal Officer, College Psychological Counselling Cell.
