Baramulla : The 77th Republic Day celebrations unfolded with great fervor at District Police Lines Baramulla, with Minister for Agricultural Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperatives, and Elections, Javid Ahmad Dar, unfurling the National Flag, inspecting the parade and taking the ceremonial salute.
The impressive parade featured contingents from BSF, CRPF, J&K police, SSB, IRP, Armed Police Ladies, and the J&K Police Band, alongside NCC cadets from Government Degree College Baramulla, Boys’ Higher Secondary Baramulla and various schools and colleges, showcasing the region’s patriotic spirit and unity.
The Minister paid tribute to the visionary leaders who played a crucial role in shaping the constitution, as well as to the brave freedom fighters and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s freedom and democracy. Javid Dar emphasized the district’s significant progress in key sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and education, highlighting initiatives focused on women and youth empowerment, road connectivity, social welfare, and self-employment, all contributing to holistic development. The event featured performances by students from various schools and cultural artists, showcasing the region’s rich cultural diversity and heritage. The Indian Army set up stalls that provided the public with an opportunity to view advanced weaponry, offering insights into the Army’s operational capabilities and technological advancements. Guests of honor visited these stalls, along with those from various government departments, including Education, Agriculture, and Health, which displayed a range of government schemes and services aimed at benefiting the public. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of prizes for the march past and cultural performances, recognizing employees from various departments for their outstanding contributions to public service. The event was attended by notable figures, including Members of the Legislative Assembly from different constituencies, the Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla, and senior police officials, alongside a large gathering of community members. Similar Republic Day celebrations were held with enthusiasm at sub-divisions and tehsil levels, where local officials also unfurled the national flag.
