Jammu : As part of the nationwide celebrations marking 150 years of the National Song “Vande Mataram”, various educational institutions across Jammu district organised a series of programmes, displaying remarkable patriotic zeal.
The commemoration forms an integral part of the broader celebrations of Republic Day 2026, with schools and colleges across the district actively participating in a calendar of activities aimed at instilling national pride and acquainting the younger generation with the revolutionary spirit and historical significance of this iconic song.
In a notable display of enthusiasm, Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS), Basti Gulab Garh, organised a patriotic marathon from Satowali Ground to the Octroi Post, Suchetgarh. Similarly, GGHSS Shastri Nagar conducted a Youth Marathon which witnessed overwhelming participation from students.
Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS), Bishnah, organised a series of activities including an Essay Writing Competition on the theme “150 Years of National Pride – Vande Mataram”, a ceremonial plantation drive and a Vande Mataram singing programme with the participation of 200 students and 35 teachers.
GGHSS Canal Road, conducted sessions explaining the meaning and historical relevance of Vande Mataram, followed by a soulful rendition by staff and students and a plantation drive.
Special assemblies highlighting the patriotic essence of the national song were organised at GHS MajuaUttami (Zone Bishnah) and Army Public School, Ratnuchak, featuring presentations, speeches and cultural expressions.
Group singing programmes were held at PM SHRI GGMS Allah (Zone Arnia), HS Bhatyari, PM SHRI GGHS Jourian and GHSS Chakrohi, while documentary and short film screenings were organised at PM SHRI GGMS Allah, GMS KotheySainian and GMHSS Sunjwan. Essay, debate, painting and slogan writing competitions were conducted at GMHSS Sunjwan, GHS Seri Panditan and R.M. Public School.
GHSS Jindrah organised a rally with students and staff raising patriotic slogans, while GHSS Kahpohta (Zone Dansal) carried out a cleanliness drive as part of the celebrations.
