Jammu: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, Science & Technology, Satish Sharma, Wednesday flagged off the J&KRTC bus service from Jammu to Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple), Amritsar, marking a major step towards improving the inter-state connectivity and facilitating pilgrimage travel for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The service was inaugurated at Gurdwara Chand Nagar, Jammu, in the presence of senior officers of the Transport Department, J&KRTC officials, members of the Sikh community and local residents.

Speaking on the occasion, Satish Sharma said that the direct Jammu–Amritsar bus service will provide a safe, comfortable and affordable travel option for pilgrims, tourists and the general public wishing to visit one of the most revered Sikh nes in the world. He said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment towards strengthening public transport and ensuring seamless mobility for people across regions.

“The launch of this service will not only ease the journey for the devotees but will also promote religious tourism and strengthen cultural bonds between Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. J&KRTC is being steadily modernised to offer better connectivity, comfort and reliability to the people,” the Minister said.

The Minister also emphasized that enhanced transport services play a vital role in boosting economic activity, tourism and people-to-people contact, which are key to inclusive growth and regional integration.

The newly introduced J&KRTC bus is equipped with modern facilities to ensure a smooth and pleasant journey for the passengers. The service will operate on a regular basis, catering to the growing demand for direct connectivity between Jammu and Amritsar.

The dignitaries present on the occasion welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude to the Minister and the Transport Department for launching a much-needed service for pilgrims and travelers alike.

The Minister, on the occasion, also announced 10 high mast solar lights for the Gurdwara.

Later in the day, the Minister participated in the Khajuria Biradari congregation at Bagh-e-Bahu, Jammu, where he interacted with the community members and listened to their issues and suggestions.

Addressing the gathering, Satish Sharma appreciated the Biradari’s contribution towards preserving cultural values and social harmony.

On the occasion, the Minister announced installation of 10 solar lights at the Dev Sathan, aimed at improving illumination, safety and amenities for the devotees and visitors. He said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment towards promoting renewable energy and enhancing facilities at religious and community places.

Minister also paid obeisance at Bawe Wali Mata Mandir at Bahu fort on the eve of Makar Sankranti.
