Doda : National Road Safety Month 2026 campaign was launched in Doda district Thursday with a road safety pledge ceremony held at DC Office Complex.
The programme was organized under the directions of the Commissioner Transport, Vishesh Paul Mahajan and under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh with the aim to reinforce road safety rules and promote responsible driving practices in the district.
Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Roshan Lal led the pledge ceremony in the presence of the Chief Planning Officer, Manesh Kumar Manhas; Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Kapil Deol and officers and officials of the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD).
The officers and officials pledged to adhere to traffic rules, discourage violations and actively promote a culture of safe, disciplined and responsible road use.

As part of the initiative, the Motor Vehicles Department launched a road safety awareness drive at several locations in Doda town.
During the drive, the ARTO interacted with drivers, transporters and the general public highlighting key safety measures such as mandatory use of helmets and seat belts, avoiding drunk driving, refraining from use of mobile phones while driving, adherence to speed limits and ensuring proper vehicle fitness.
The awareness drive also laid special emphasis on sensitizing pedestrians and school-going children to road safety rules, safe road-crossing practices and the importance of traffic signs.
The initiative aims to reduce road accidents and ensure the safety of all road users through sustained awareness and collective responsibility.
