Says “SVAMITVA is a transformational initiative strengthening grassroots governance”

Budgam: Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-din Bhat, Thursday distributed SVAMITVA Property Cards were distributed to beneficiaries belonging to Tehsils of Khag and Khansahib at a function held here in the Conference Hall, Budgam.

Addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted that the SVAMITVA Scheme has been launched with the objective of providing legal ownership of residential properties in rural areas through modern drone-based survey technology.

He stated that the scheme aims to empower villagers by ensuring clarity of land records, minimizing disputes, and enabling planned and sustainable development of rural areas.

On the occasion, the DC maintained that holistic development of villages can be achieved only when people develop a sense of ownership towards their land and settlements. He emphasised that community participation plays a crucial role in translating developmental initiatives into lasting outcomes.

He said that the issuance of property cards provides legal security to rural households, enhances access to institutional credit, and supports economic empowerment.

As per the district status under the SVAMITVA Scheme, property cards have been generated for 33 villages, with 118 property cards generated so far, out of which 88 property cards have already been distributed to rightful beneficiaries.

The DC appreciated the coordinated efforts of the concerned departments and Survey of India in implementing the scheme and assured that remaining villages will be covered in a phased and time-bound manner. He reaffirmed that all technical and procedural issues are being addressed to ensure saturation of the SVAMITVA Scheme across the district.

The programme concluded with an appeal to beneficiaries to make prudent use of the property cards and actively contribute towards the overall development of their villages.

Besides , ACR Budgam, Tehsildar khag/Khanshaib , beneficiaries from tehsil khag and Khanshaib, other concerned revenue officials were present during the event.
