DC Kishtwar chairs District level NCORD meeting; reviews anti-drug measures

Kishtwar : A meeting of District-Level NCORD (Narco Coordination Centre) was Wednesday convened under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma.
The meeting reviewed the enforcement measures against drug abuse, the working of de-addiction framework and the progress of the Information, Education & Communication (IEC) campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
At the outset, District Social Welfare Officer, Tariq Parvez Qazi apprised about the action taken about the decisions taken in the previous meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner took a comprehensive review of the prevailing drug abuse scenario in the district and sought detailed inputs regarding vulnerable areas, affected age groups and identified hotspots.
He also reviewed the preventive and enforcement measures launched by the stakeholder departments.
Emphasizing the crucial role of community participation, the DC called for active involvement of all stakeholders in the UT-wide IEC Campaign 2.0. He directed the nine nominated resource persons from the line departments to ensure wider outreach and effective public awareness on drug abuse prevention.
The DC directed CMO to keep a check on medical shops to ensure that the Schedule H drugs are sold strictly on valid prescription with computerized billing.
Noting that the internet facilities have been started in the Marwah–Warwan area, the DC directed the Drug Control functionaries to enforce the implementation of computerized billing and installation of CCTV cameras at all medical establishments there.
The Tehsildars were directed to conduct joint market checking drives regarding Schedule H drugs to curb the illegal sale of such medicines.
The DC issued directions to the Tehsil Level & Sub Division Level Committees to declare panchayats as Nasha Mukt as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SoP).
Further, the Chief Education Officer was directed to declare remaining schools as Tobacco Free Zones as per the TOFEI guidelines.
He further directed the installation of CCTV cameras at identified hotspots and regular monitoring of the medicines delivered through courier services.
The meeting was attended by SSP Naresh Singh; ADC Pawan Kotwal along with other officers and officials of the concerned line departments.
