GDC Ramkote organises awareness session on management of stray dogs

Kathua : An awareness session on the “Issue of stray dogs and preventive measures” was Tuesday organised by the NSS Unit of the Government Degree College Ramkote under the guidance and supervision of Principal of the college, Dr Rakesh Kumar Koul.
Dr Sheikh Aabid Azaad from the Department of Education was the resource person. He discussed the causes of increasing stray dog population, attributing the problem to lack of vaccination, poor waste management and abandonment. Listing control measures, he stressed sterilization, proper waste disposal and management, avoiding feeding stray dogs and reporting stray dog sightings to authorities.
The session promoted empathy and compassion towards stray dogs and the students pledged to contribute to animal welfare and community safety.
The programme was organised by NSS PO Prof Anu Sharma, who thanked the resource person for making students aware about the issue of stray dogs and preventive measures to be taken at community level. Around 60 students from BA Semester 1st, 4th and 6th participated in the session. Faculty present included Dr Sheraz Ahmed Sofi and Sheraz Ahmed Hajam.
