National Mathematics Day Celebrated at IUST-Kashmir

Awantipora: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), through its Department of Mathematical Sciences, celebrated National Mathematics Day to honour the birth anniversary of eminent mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan and emphasize the importance of mathematics in contemporary science, technology, and innovation.
The program successfully convened faculty, research scholars, and students, emphasizing the integral role of mathematics in scientific research, technological progress, and interdisciplinary applications. It featured expert talks that celebrated the contributions of mathematician Ramanujan and underscored the ongoing significance of mathematical thinking in contemporary research and problem-solving. Dr. Peer Bilal Ahmad, Head of the Department of Mathematical Sciences, highlighted the essential role of mathematics in fostering research, innovation, and effective problem-solving. Meanwhile, Dr. Hashim Rasool, Head of the Department of Physics, elaborated on the interdisciplinary applications of mathematics across various fields of science and engineering. The event also included presentations from research scholars and students, promoting academic exchange, critical thinking, and scholarly engagement among participants.
