Kathua Admin Cup: CMO XI registers 6-run victory over GDC Kathua XI

Kathua :  The second match of the ongoing Kathua Admin Cup Cricket Tournament was played at the playground of GDC Boys Kathua Friday, where CMO XI registered a close and hard-fought victory over GDC Kathua XI.

After winning the toss, CMO XI elected to bat first and posted a competitive total of 144 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Karun led the batting with a fine knock of 47 runs off 37 balls, which included one six and five fours. Qayoom contributed 36 runs off 38 balls with one six and five fours, while Amit Jasrotia added 29 runs off 20 balls, hitting one six and two fours.

In reply, GDC Kathua XI, chasing a target of 145 runs, scored 138 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Daya Ram top-scored with 21 runs off 13 balls, including one six and two fours. Goutam chipped in with 14 runs off 25 balls with one four, while Arvind scored a brisk 13 runs off 7 balls with one six and one four.

The bowling attack of CMO XI played a decisive role in restricting the chase. Sarwan delivered an excellent spell, taking four wickets for 15 runs in his three overs, while Vinayak claimed two wickets for 33 runs in four overs. In the field, Amit Munde impressed by taking two good catches, while Karun took a spectacular catch. For GDC Kathua XI, Arvind claimed one wicket, while two dismissals came through run-outs.

For his outstanding all-round performance, scoring 47 runs, taking one wicket and effecting a brilliant catch, Karun was adjudged Player of the Match.
