DC B’gam inspects progress of restoration, repair work on Panzan Bridge, Also reviews post-flood restoration works

Budgam : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-din Bhat, Wednesday inspected the Panzan Bridge on the Budgam Chadoora road and reviewed the progress of restoration works being executed under the UT Capex Budget at an estimated cost of Rs. 71.25 lakh.
During the inspection, it was informed that the embankment of the Panzan Bridge had sustained damage due to recent flood incidents. The DC was assured by the Executive Engineer, PMGSY, that the restoration work has been taken up on priority and is expected to be completed within a period of 20 days, ensuring early restoration of safe and uninterrupted connectivity.
The DC stressed that quality, durability, and safety parameters must be strictly adhered to, and that no compromise shall be tolerated in execution standards.
He further emphasized that frequent field inspections and technical supervision are being ensured to monitor progress and maintain accountability of the executing agencies.
The DC underscored that restoration of public infrastructure remains a top priority of the district administration, particularly in flood-prone areas, and that all available resources are being mobilized for timely rehabilitation and strengthening of damaged assets.
Subsequently, the DC reviewed the execution of multiple post-flood restoration and flood mitigation works being carried out in the Chadoora area including restoration of drop walls at Karambuland Bridge and Main Bridge Chadoora, flood damage restoration of KLR Road from Km 4th to Km 6th, construction of a crate wall at Quangipora Bridge, and restoration of the link road/approach towards the New Bus Adda, Chadoora.
The DC said that these interventions are aimed at enhancing flood resilience, protecting vital road infrastructure, and minimizing the impact of future flood events.
He issued the directions to ensure inter-departmental coordination, timely release of funds, and completion of works well within sanctioned timelines.
During the visit, the DC also reviewed the proposed alignment of the road connecting the New Bus Adda with the DawlatporaRoad.The proposed alignment was examined on site, and it was observed that the project would play a crucial role in decongesting traffic, providing alternate connectivity, and improving overall urban mobility in the Chadoora town area.
The DC emphasised that necessary procedural and technical formalities be expedited for early execution of the project.
Later, the DC also interacted with the Driver’s Association of Chadoora, during which concerns related to transport facilities, parking space, and operational challenges were raised.
The DC assured that the construction of a new conveyance complex is being actively pursued and will be taken up to address the genuine demands of the transport fraternity and to ensure organized and efficient transport operations.
The DC reiterated that the district administration is firmly committed to people-centric governance, speedy restoration of flood-damaged infrastructure, and implementation of long-term mitigation and development measures.
He stated that safeguarding public assets, improving connectivity, and ensuring safety and convenience of the general public shall continue to remain key focus areas of the administration.
Besides, CPO Budgam, SDM chadoora ,Exen R&B, Tehsildar Chadoora , EO MC chadoora and other officials accompanied the DC during his visit.
