DC B’gam reviews status of Bailey Bridge Installation, Also inspects Chadoora Bridge Works

Budgam : Deputy Commissioner(DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, Wednesday conducted an on-site inspection of the progress of works on the approved Bailey Bridge, which is being installed as a temporary alternative to the Chadoora Main Bridge that was recently declared unsafe for vehicular movement.
The inspection was undertaken to assess the pace of execution and to ensure that all works are being carried out in accordance with prescribed technical standards and timelines.
During the visit, the DC also inspected the damaged Chadoora Main Bridge.
It was informed that a comprehensive damage assessment of the bridge has already been conducted by the concerned engineering departments. Based on the assessment, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for restoration and repair have been prepared and necessary technical formalities are being completed to facilitate early execution of the works.
It was further apprised that an expert team from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) had earlier inspected the bridge and submitted a detailed report highlighting the technical aspects and safety requirements. The recommendations put forth by the expert agency are being duly considered to ensure a safe, sustainable, and long-term restoration of the bridge.
The DC emphasized that public safety and convenience remain the top priorities of the District Administration. He assured that all required measures are being taken to expedite the restoration process without compromising on quality or safety nor
The DC directed concerned departments to maintain close coordination to ensure timely completion of both temporary and permanent arrangements.
The DC also interacted with various delegations from Chadoora town, who raised concerns regarding transportation difficulties faced by residents due to the closure of the bridge. He informed delegations that the District Administration, in coordination with the Sub-Divisional Magistrates and line departments, has formulated a comprehensive transportation and traffic management plan to provide relief to the local population and to ensure smooth movement of essential services till the Bailey Bridge is made operational for traffic.
The DC further assured them that uninterrupted connectivity for the general public is being accorded utmost importance and all viable alternate routes are being strengthened and regulated accordingly.
The DC reiterated that the District Administration is fully committed to the complete restoration of the Chadoora Main Bridge at the earliest possible time. The DC urged the public to cooperate with the administration and follow traffic advisories issued from time to time in the larger interest of safety and public convenience.
The DC was accompanied by CPO Budgam , SDM chadoora , Executive Engineer R&B , Tehsildar chadoora, EO MC chadoora and other concerned officials.
