Srinagar : Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Kashmir (SKUAST–K), celebrated National Farmers Day (Kisan Diwas) Tuesday at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Extension.
National Farmers Day is observed every year on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, in recognition of his lifelong dedication to the welfare of farmers and the agricultural sector.
The occasion highlights the indispensable role of farmers in ensuring national food security and strengthening the rural economy.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Prof. Raihana H. Kanth, Director, Directorate of Extension and Dean, Faculty of Horticulture, SKUAST–K. The event witnessed active participation from faculty members, scientists, extension professionals, students, and other stakeholders.
As part of the celebrations, about 120 participants attended the live telecast of the national-level programme during which Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, and Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, addressed the gathering.
