Srinagar: A meeting of District Level Review Committee/District Consultative Committee (DLRC/DCC) was Friday held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex, here to review the performance of the Banks and sponsoring Departments under various Government initiatives and flagship schemes for financial year 2025-26.
Besides, Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar; General Manager DIC, Hamida Akhtar; Lead District Manager(Banks), Nelofer Jan; LDO, RBI, DDM NABARD, Purnima Kakroo; Director RSETI, Bashir Ahmad; all District Officers, Cluster Heads of J&K Bank, representatives of Banks and financial institutions operating in Srinagar attended the meeting.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner, who is also Chairman of DLRC/DCC conducted a detailed sector-wise review of the performance of banks in the implementation of various Government schemes. He also reviewed achievements under Priority and Non-Priority Sector lending as per the Annual Credit Plan.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC urged banks and sponsoring agencies to focus on achieving targets under Priority Sector Lending and emphasized improving the ease of availing banking facilities for consumers.
The DC stressed upon all line departments and banks operating in the district to ensure effective implementation of self-employment schemes such as Mission YUVA, Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), JKCIP, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, among others. He also emphasized strengthening financial inclusion schemes through proper handholding of beneficiaries to enhance credit outreach.
While underscoring the need to further improve performance, particularly in priority sectors, the DC stated that the meritorious performance at the bank branch level shall be duly recognized through special awards while below average performance would be closely monitored and taken up formally with the HR Divisions of the respective banks.
The DC further directed banks to sensitize their staff to deal with customers in a compassionate manner and ensure timely redressal of public grievances. He emphasized close coordination between banks and sponsoring agencies for the effective implementation of self-employment schemes, enabling beneficiaries to establish income-generating units seamlessly.
During the meeting, it was informed that banks operating in Srinagar have disbursed a total credit of Rs. 6,353.23 crore to 86,989 beneficiaries under various schemes, achieving 72% of the target till the quarter ending September 2025 of the financial year 2025–26.
It was also informed that deposits amounting to Rs. 40,395 crore and advances of Rs 26,296 crore have been registered with a Credit-Deposit (CD) ratio of 65% as of September 2025.
