JMC intensifies anti-encroachment drive, demolishes illegal structures, seals commercial establishment  

Jammu : The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), under its ongoing mission to restore public spaces and ensure planned urban development conducted anti-encroachment drive across multiple areas of the city Monday. The operation was carried out under the directions the of Commissioner JMC and supervision of Joint Commissioner (R&E).
The operation targeted several instances of illegal construction, unauthorized commercial activity and encroachment on public thoroughfares.
The JMC’s enforcement teams backed by the police personnel carried out the several decisive actions.
An illegal structure that was recently erected in Sainik Colony was demolished. The JMC reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against unauthorized construction in residential areas. Illegal shutters erected in defiance of building norms were demolished at two separate locations.
Similarly, an illegal commercial establishment operating in Apsara Road, Gandhi Nagar was sealed. This action formed part of the continuous crackdown on unauthorized commercial activity.
Additionally, the team conducted an intensive drive along the BC Road to clear footpaths and pavements. The team seized a large number of items that were illegally placed and used to encroach upon the footpath, pavement and main road, disrupting the free flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
After the successful execution of the drive, the Jammu Municipal Corporation strongly appealed to all citizens and commercial entities to co-operate with the Corporation in keeping the city free from encroachments.
The JMC urged the public to refrain from undertaking any illegal construction and encroachment on public and private land. Citizens were advised to adhere strictly to the building bye-laws and obtain all necessary permissions from the competent authority before initiating any construction or commercial activity. The JMC reaffirmed to continue its drives with full vigour against all violators to maintain the city’s planned structure and ensure public safety and convenience.
