Srinagar : Police in coordination with the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) on Friday conducted a special drive across the district Ganderbal to check vehicles bearing outside UT registration numbers that continue to ply in Jammu & Kashmir without mandatory transfer of ownership and registration.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that multiple checking naka points were established in Ganderbal to inspect vehicles for compliance with transfer norms and statutory requirements. Joint teams conducted thorough inspections and accordingly strict actions were initiated against owners and drivers for violating the Motor Vehicles Act. Violations included operating non-transferred vehicles and lacking valid documentation. In its statement Police said that these initiatives aim to enhance road safety, prevent the misuse of vehicles with outside registrations, and enforce adherence to legal provisions, warning therein that similar enforcement drives will continue in the coming days to maintain road discipline and ensure compliance with motor vehicle regulations.
