Distt-wide crackdown initiated on vehicles without mandatory ownership transfer in B’gam : Police

Budgam Police on Friday said that it has launched a district-wide drive in Budgam and intensified checking in view of the increasing instances of vehicles being brought from other states without completing the requisite documentation.
In a statement issued here on Friday police said police teams deployed for checking vehicles seized 11 vehicles across the district for violating the Motor Vehicles Act. These vehicles, brought from outside J&K, had not undergone the necessary legal transfer of ownership to their current users. This oversight not only constitutes a breach of the Motor Vehicles Act but also raises significant security concerns. In addition to this, law enforcement has taken stringent action against violations such as triple riding, riding without helmets, and rash driving. In its statement Police said that presence of unregistered or illegally transferred vehicles poses a risk, as they can be exploited for criminal activities, including smuggling and theft, thereby threatening public safety and national security. Police in its statement also urged all vehicle owners and users in the district to adhere strictly to legal requirements and ensure timely transfer of ownership to prevent potential seizures, penalties, or other legal repercussions.
