Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla & Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday Police said that In Baramulla two suspects Tahir Ahmad Khan and a female accomplice both from Trikanjan, Boniyar were intercepted and during their personal search, authorities recovered 964 grams of a heroin-like substance, divided into two packets weighing 424 grams and 540 grams, with an estimated street value of around Rs 1 crore. Additionally, two mobile phones and a Tata Punch vehicle were seized. A case has been registered under FIR No. 214/2025 at Police Station Baramulla, and further investigations are ongoing. In a separate incident in Awantipora, police from the Pampore station during a naka checking at Kadlabal Pampore Chowk, stopped a vehicle and seized 37.740 kilograms of poppy straw. The two suspects, Jehangir Ahmad Dar and Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, both residents of Budgam, were arrested, and the vehicle used in the crime was also seized. A case has been filed under FIR No. 127/2025 at Police Station Pampore, with investigations currently underway. In its statement police emphasized its commitment to combat drug trafficking , appealing therein people to cooperate in reporting drug-related activities.
