Srinagar: The University of Kashmir (KU) on Monday inaugurated a two-day workshop titled “INFLIBNET: Resources, Services and Facilities for Universities”, organised by the Allama Iqbal Library in collaboration with UGC-INFLIBNET.
The workshop is designed to enhance digital literacy and promote ICT-enabled academic engagement among newly recruited faculty members and library professionals. It aims to familiarize participants with advanced digital platforms and research support tools provided by INFLIBNET, ultimately strengthening teaching and learning outcomes in higher education institutions. Vice Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan emphasized the importance of utilizing digital tools and e-resources to enhance teaching, research, and professional competencies. She highlighted the university’s commitment to empowering its faculty by ensuring they remain updated and technologically competent in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof Shariefuddin Pirzada, expressed confidence that the workshop would significantly raise awareness among young educators about the digital tools available through INFLIBNET, especially in the context of attracting students in an era of abundant digital content. Registrar Prof Naseer Iqbal noted the transformative impact of technology on teaching pedagogy, stressing that while information is readily accessible, the mentorship provided by teachers is crucial for student success. Mr. Swapnil Patel from INFLIBNET provided insights into the organization’s evolution and its initiatives, including library automation and various academic projects, which are vital for enhancing institutional academic frameworks. University Librarian Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Lone stated that the workshop is tailored to equip participants with essential digital competencies for effective integration into their teaching and research. The event is attended by approximately 120 participants from various universities and colleges, with resource persons from INFLIBNET offering hands-on exposure to advanced digital platforms and research facilitation tools throughout multiple technical sessions.
