Srinagar: IGP Kashmir V. K. Birdi chaired a review meeting focused on the monitoring of under-trial cases, attended by district SSsP, Law Officers, and Pairvi Officers from the Kashmir Zone.
The meeting commenced with the IGP outlining the agenda, followed by presentations from district SSPs on their progress in case disposal and efforts to secure convictions in under-trial and under-investigation cases. Key discussions included general crime matters, with particular emphasis on NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) and UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) cases, as well as issues related to absconders and other offenses. The IGP commended the district heads and Law Officers for their crime prevention efforts and highlighted the necessity of enhancing the quality of investigations. He stressed the importance of improving conviction rates through better investigative practices, increased utilization of scientific tools, and a robust follow-up system, especially for narcotics and terrorism-related cases.
