Online frauds foiled in B’gam, ₹15.87 lac recovered in Oct–Nov 2025, 52 Lost, Stolen Phones recovered: Police

Srinagar: Cyber Police Budgam has intensified its action against rising cyber-enabled crimes, successfully recovering ₹15,87,593/- lost in various online fraud cases during October and November 2025. The unit also felicitated for recovering 52 lost or stolen mobile phones, worth approximately ₹1.5 lakh, through the CIER portal.

The recovered amounts were linked to complaints involving UPI frauds, fake social media deals, online marketplace scams, fraudulent loan apps, OTP misuse, and bogus investment offers. Acting swiftly, Cyber Police froze suspicious transactions, coordinated with banks and financial institutions, and tracked digital footprints to ensure timely recovery.

In its statement Police appealed people to remain vigilant on digital platforms, avoid sharing sensitive information, and immediately report suspicious online activity, advising them therein to report cyber crimes at Cyber Police Station Budgam ot visit the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (www.cybercrime.gov.in), or call the Helpline 1930. Police in its statement also reiterated its commitment to act firmly against cyber offenders .
