Div Com (J) reviews progress of Smart Metering, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana implementation

Jammu : Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar on Wednesday chaired a meeting to discuss and review the progress of projects being executed under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), including smart metering and other Power sector reform initiatives.

Discussions were held on the progress and challenges in the process of Smart Metering, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, solarization of Government buildings and finalization of model solar villages.

Managing Director JPDCL, Gurpal Singh gave a detailed presentation on the progress and current status of Smart metering, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and RDSS projects.

Chief Executive Officer, Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) Dr. PR Dhar also briefed the chair on the progress of solarization of Government buildings and development of Model Solar villages.

The Deputy Commissioners and concerned officers briefed the meeting about the steps being taken to complete the projects besides other issues through power point presentations.

The Divisional Commissioner directed the DCs to depute dedicated teams for expediting the installation of smart meters in left out areas. He also directed them to appoint nodal officers to coordinate the process of smart metering, solarization of Government buildings and implementation of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

The representatives of implementing agencies were directed to hire additional manpower to ensure time bound completion of the works on these projects.

The Deputy Commissioners were asked to vigorously follow and review the installation of Smart Metering and implementation of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer JPDCL, K K Thappa; Executive Engineer JAKEDA Khalid Mahmud; Xen STD-II Jammu Sanjeev Rohmetra; Director, RDD Jammu, Shahnaz Akhter and other officers of the department.
