Srinagar : Police in Budgam in coordination with the Mining Department on Wednesday intensified action against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals across the district during November 2025.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that Police teams from various stations and posts conducted extensive operations in multiple areas, including Khansahib, Suranhall Batpora, and Budgam, under the guidance of senior officers. During the operations 12 individuals engaged in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals were arrested besides which 6 FIRs were also registeredd. Authorities seized a total of 39 vehicles including 11 tippers/dumpers, 21 tractors, 6 JCBs, and 1 L&T machine involved in these illegal activities. Heavy fines were also imposed on the violators. In its statement police reiterated its commitment to protect natural resources and enforcemining and environmentals law and appealed to report any illegal mining activities to help safeguard the district’s delicate riverine ecosystem.
