Budgam: Under IUST’s Community Outreach Program, Alamdar Memorial College of Nursing & Medical Technology (AMCONMT), Charar-i-Sharief, Budgam, constituent college of the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), organized an Awareness Programme on ‘Substance Abuse & Its Prevention’. The program was held at Government Degree College, Charar-i-Sharief under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (Drug-Free India Campaign).
The programme focused on raising awareness among students and youth regarding the growing threat of substance abuse, emphasizing preventive measures, early identification, and the importance of community-centered initiatives. It included expert talks, interactive discussions, and awareness messages, culminating in a collective pledge to foster a drug-free community. Prof. (Dr.) Zamrooda Mushtaq, Principal of AMCONMT, addressed the psychological, social, and health impacts of substance abuse, highlighting the shared responsibility of families, educators, and healthcare professionals in facilitating early intervention and support. Prof. (Dr.) Mohd Amin Malik, Principal of GDC Charar-i-Sharief, commended the collaborative effort and underscored the necessity for continuous awareness programmes aimed at empowering youth and promoting community welfare.
