Srinagar: Police in Awantipora along with security forces on Friday busted a terrorist hideout linked to the proscribed outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and arrested a terrorist associate involved in supporting terrorists.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that Police, in collaboration with 42 RR and 180 BN CRPF, conducted a cordon and search operation in Naner Midoora following credible intelligence about terrorist activity. During this operation, they arrested Nazir Ahmed Ganai, a terrorist associate linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), who was found to be providing logistical support and facilitating the transportation of arms for JeM operatives in the Tral and Awantipora regions. Upon interrogation, Ganai disclosed the location of a terrorist hideout in his orchards, which was subsequently uncovered and dismantled by security forces. The operation yielded the recovery of two hand grenades, a detonator, and explosive materials, all of which were seized for further analysis. The hideout was destroyed on-site in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, adhering to established procedures. A case has been registered under FIR No. 257/2025 at Police Station Awantipora, and further investigations are underway. Police in its statement reiterated its commitment to dismantle the terror ecosystem and maintain peace and security in the district.
