Tanvir warns against communalisation of Health, Education Institutions

Says merit-based institutions “must not be turned into arenas of religious division”

Srinagar, 23 Nov: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq has expressed deep concern over the growing trend of communalising public institutions, warning that such actions threaten the foundational values of harmony and equality in society.

He stated that when hospitals, schools, universities, and medical colleges come under pressure to make decisions based on religion, it raises serious questions about the direction in which the country is headed. According to him, access to education, medical care, and opportunity must remain firmly rooted in merit and fairness.

Referring to the recent SMVDIME admissions issue, Tanviir said that the institution followed a transparent, merit-based selection process. He noted that funding from a shrine does not convert an academic institution into a religion-based one.

Sadiq stressed that healthcare and educational institutions must remain spaces of integrity and equal opportunity, not arenas for communal politics. He cautioned that such divisive approaches risk inflicting long-term damage on the social fabric that may be difficult to repair.

He reiterated that communalising health and education is fundamentally harmful, warning that it endangers both the present and the future of the nation. Sadiq urged all concerned to abandon such practices before they result in irreversible consequences.
