Hold dialogue, Initiate outreach in J&K, Bridge the divide between Kashmir & Delhi: Altaf Bukhari to Centre

Srinagar: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfil his promise of holding a dialogue with the people of Jammu and Kashmir to help bridge the gap between Kashmir and New Delhi.
Bukhari made this appeal during his address to a key party meeting at the party headquarters in Srinagar. The meeting was held to discuss the current political situation and pressing public issues. Leaders and senior workers from the Budgam constituency, where by-elections were held recently, also attended the meeting.
The Apni Party President has called on the Indian government to initiate a confidence-building dialogue with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the need to restore trust and bridge the gap of mistrust between the region and New Delhi. He highlighted that the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir deserve the same rights as those in other parts of India and urged an end to the harassment of Kashmiri students and communities across the country. Reflecting on the political landscape, he noted that the Apni Party was formed in response to the turmoil following the revocation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, which he described as a dark chapter in the region’s history. The President recounted the challenges faced in convincing the central government to maintain special rights for the people of Jammu and Kashmir regarding land and jobs. He expressed pride in the party’s success in securing an official assurance from the Government of India on this matter, marking it as a significant achievement for the Apni Party.
