Srinagar: The Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir has issued fresh instructions directing all district hospitals and healthcare institutions across the Valley to publicly display daily rosters of doctors on duty, aiming to enhance transparency and ensure smoother functioning of medical services.
The circular, issued on Saturday, calls upon all Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents and Block Medical Officers to update the duty roster every day, covering specialists, medical officers, casualty and emergency staff, as well as leave arrangements. According to the order, the roster must be displayed prominently at key points inside the hospitals, including the main entrance or reception area, OPD block, emergency and casualty sections, and on hospital websites or online portals wherever available.
The displayed roster is required to clearly mention the name, designation, department, duty hours or shift, and contact or extension number of each doctor. The Directorate has held Medical Superintendents personally responsible for ensuring timely and accurate updates of the roster, warning that any non-compliance will be viewed seriously and could attract disciplinary action under rules. The directive forms part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to improve transparency, strengthen monitoring mechanisms and enhance patient experience across government health facilities in Jammu and Kashmir.
