DIO Rajinder Digra’s fiery 53 anchors successful run chase

Kathua |:  A competitive cricket match between Kathua DC XI and GDC Kathua XI was played this evening on the College campus ground, setting the stage for spirited performances and steady contributions from both tea

GDC Kathua XI won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a total of 116 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in a 15 over match. Their innings was led by Prof Tariq who scored 39 runs, followed by Prof Sandeep Sharma with 25 runs, Prof Daya Ram with 21 runs and Prof Umar who contributed 11 runs.

Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma delivered an effective spell by claiming two important opening wickets and restricting the opposition early on.

Chasing 117, Kathua DC XI lost a wicket on the very first ball of the innings. Coming in one down, Rajinder Digra (DIO Kathua) played responsibly, taking control of the situation and stabilising the innings. His well-crafted 53 runs in 22 balls, including four sixes and six fours, provided the much-needed momentum. He was supported by DPO Kathua, Aamir Chaudhary who added 17 runs to keep the chase on track.

In the middle overs, ACR Kathua Vishav Partap Singh scored another crucial 17 runs, striking two boundaries and a six at the right moment to maintain the flow of runs.

Prof Arvind picked three wickets for GDC Kathua, while the bowling attack of Kathua DC XI maintained consistent pressure.

The match headed towards a nail-biting finish, with Kathua DC XI needing to keep their composure in the final over. With three balls to spare, ADC Kathua, Vishavjeet Singh and CEO Municipal Council Kathua, Amit Sharma held their nerve and steered the team to a well-deserved victory.

The encounter concluded with appreciation for the efforts shown by both sides and a shared commitment to promoting sports and fitness activities across the district.
