Budgam : Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Monday chaired a meeting to review preparations and awareness activities regarding Armed Forces Flag Day, observed every year on 07 December.
The day holds national significance as it honours the supreme sacrifices, courage, and dedicated service of the Armed Forces personnel, while also mobilising public contributions for their welfare.
During the meeting, the DC highlighted that Armed Forces Flag Day serves as a collective opportunity for citizens to contribute generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF), which extends essential support to disabled ex-servicemen, war widows, and the children of martyrs. He urged all departments and the general public to actively participate in the campaign and uphold the spirit of gratitude towards the nation’s defenders.
The DC appreciated the Zila Sainik Welfare Board Budgam for its tremendous efforts and continued commitment towards the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families.
He acknowledged the Board’s role in facilitating assistance, awareness, and fund raising initiatives across the district.
Further, the DC instructed the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam to formulate a District Welfare Board to coordinate voluntary contributions and streamline welfare-related activities in connection with the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. He emphasised that a dedicated district-level mechanism will help strengthen outreach and ensure sustained public participation.
Besides , ADC Budgam , ACD, DTO, all SDMs , DIO informatics, representatives of welfare board and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
