GGM Science College,SPMR College of Commerce Register Impressive Wins in Intercollegiate Cricket Tournament

Jammu: The intercollegiate cricket tournaments organized by Cluster University of Jammu witnessed an exciting day of competitive cricket at the GGM Science College Ground, where GGM Science College and SPMR College of Commerce registered commanding victories in their respective matches.
In the first match, GGM Science College delivered an outstanding performance against GCOE Jammu. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, GGM Science College posted a massive total of 273 runs for the loss of just 3 wickets. The innings was anchored by a spectacular century from Dilshant Thakur, who scored an explosive 102 runs off just 43 balls, supported by an impressive 84 runs from Mohd. Kaif and a well-compiled 53 runs by Mohd. Shahryar. In reply, GCOE Jammu faltered under disciplined bowling and were bowled out for 84 runs, handing GGM Science College a resounding 193-run victory. For his scintillating century and all-round contribution, Dilshant Thakur was named Man of the Match. The second match between SPMR College of Commerce and MAM College Jammu was equally gripping. Batting first, MAM College put up a competitive total of 158 runs, with Shourya Sharma contributing a crucial 48-run knock. Chasing the target, SPMR College of Commerce demonstrated composure and teamwork. Key contributions from Aayush Sharma (24 runs), Dhruv (20 runs), and Aditya (19 runs) guided the team to successfully chase down the target with four wickets in hand. For his impactful three- wicket haul that shifted the momentum, Manav Sharma was adjudged Man of the Match. Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal, GGM Science College Jammu, in the presence of Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Director, Sports and Physical Education, Cluster University of Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta highlighted the importance of sports in holistic student development, praising the participating teams for their enthusiasm and encouraging them to exhibit true sportsmanship throughout the tournament. The ongoing tournament continues to showcase exceptional cricketing talent from the constituent colleges of Cluster University of Jammu, reflecting the vibrant sports culture and competitive spirit of student athletes.
