Sharma backs additional support for cops fighting terror, Meets Nowgam blast injured at hospital

Srinagar: Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Legislative Assembly and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Sunil Sharma on Monday said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police face higher operational risks and need stronger support from the government, saying that the force requires updated welfare measures and enhanced risk allowance.
LoP Sharma, who visited the family of SIA Inspector Asrar Ul Haq, killed in the Nowgam Police Station blast said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police is engaged in counter insurgency operations and fights terrorism daily.
Sharma said that Centre stands with every affected family. He said he was directed by the Home Minister to meet the households hit by the explosion and convey that the nation shares their loss.
LoP Sharma expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Inspector Asrar, describing him as a capable and upright officer whose death is a significant loss for the nation. He assured that the officer’s family would receive employment support, emphasizing that this assistance is a rightful acknowledgment of the officer’s sacrifice in service. Sharma highlighted the government’s commitment to a transparent investigation into any negligence related to the recent Nowgam blast, asserting that the inquiry would proceed without political interference. He urged the National Conference government to demonstrate its ability to support the affected families, who he believes deserve additional assistance during this challenging time. During his visit to Ujala Cygnus hospital, Sharma inquired about the health of the injured and expressed his condolences, promising comprehensive support for their recovery. He praised the dedication of medical staff and reiterated the importance of the administration and public representatives standing with the victims’ families to ensure they receive necessary aid. Sharma committed to closely monitoring the treatment of the injured and ensuring timely support, reaffirming that the safety and welfare of the public are paramount. He called for improved safety protocols to prevent such tragic incidents in the future and reiterated the party’s solidarity with the victims and their families during this distressing period.
