Rajorui : The Cooperative Department Rajouri Saturday kicked off a special activity campaign to mark the beginning of 72nd Cooperative Week۔ the campaign was set rolling with an awareness event held here at the Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Complex, Jawahar Nagar. The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Malikzada Sheraz ul Haq was the Chief Guest.

The programme commenced with hoisting of the Cooperative Flag, symbolizing unity, self-reliance and the collective spirit that forms the foundation of the cooperative movement. In his welcome address, the Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Societies highlighted the objectives of the Cooperative Week and outlined the achievements of the department in strengthening the cooperative ecosystem in the district.

During the event, members of the local cooperative societies shared their success stories, underlining remarkable contributions made in empowering local communities and enhancing cooperative activities across the District.

In his address, the Chief Guest lauded the Cooperative Department for its impactful initiatives aimed at uplifting farmers, strengthening rural economies, and ensuring affordability of essential goods. He made special mention of the successful establishment of food processing units (flour mills) at Nowshera and Darhal, where maize is procured at rates higher than the Minimum Support Price (MSP). The processed flour is then supplied to consumers at rates lower than prevailing market prices, reflecting the department’s commitment to both farmer welfare and public convenience through cooperative interventions.

The event concluded with a pledge to further strengthen the cooperative movement in Rajouri through continued innovation, community participation and collaborative efforts.

The celebration was attended by several dignitaries, including the District Sheep Husbandry Officer Rajouri, Assistant Director Fisheries, Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies Rajouri, DDM NABARD, representatives from the Animal Husbandry Department and members of various cooperative institutions.
