72nd All India Cooperative Week celebration begins in Kishtwar

Kishtwar: A Mega District Event was organised Saturday at CMS Kishtwar to join the nationwide celebration of the 72nd All India Cooperative Week, being observed this year under the theme “Cooperatives as Vehicles for Atmanirbhar Bharat.”

The programme was graced by Secretary District Cooperative Federation Kishtwar Reyaz Ahmad Butt as the Chief Guest. The event commenced with the inspection of the stalls put up by Cooperative Societies to showcase their products. These included the Sounder Panjhdhara MPCS showcasing its Atta Chakki Unit established under the FPU Scheme, the Forest Herbal FPO displaying a variety of herbal products, and CMS Kishtwar presenting a range of agricultural input products.

In his welcome address, Assistant Registrar Sanjay Singh underlined the significance of Cooperative Week and emphasised the vital role cooperatives play in strengthening grassroots economies.

Assistant Registrar Amit Sharma delivered a comprehensive presentation explaining the activities of the Cooperative Department in the District. He highlighted key achievements, new initiatives, and schemes launched by the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, and the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.

Keynote addresses were delivered by Jagdish Sen, Ex-Secretary, CMS Kishtwar and Sumeer Nabi, Branch Manager, JCCB Kishtwar, who spoke about the bank’s achievements and the credit facilities extended to various Cooperative Societies in the district.

In his address, the Chief Guest Reyaz Ahmad Butt underscored the importance of adhering to cooperative principles to realise the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. He urged unemployed youth to leverage cooperative platforms and explore entrepreneurial avenues through the formation of Cooperative Societies.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Qazi Akhter Hussain, who also conducted the proceedings. He was supported by staff members of the Cooperative Department, including Phulail Singh, Sr. Auditor, Roshal Lal, Sr. Assistant and others.

The programme was sponsored by CMS Kishtwar, reflecting the continued commitment of the cooperative sector toward empowering communities and contributing to the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
