Doda : The entire District Doda came alive with patriotic zeal as schools and colleges across the district celebrated the 150th anniversary of the iconic national song Vande Mataram — a timeless symbol of India’s unity, strength and freedom.

The educational institutions organized a series of vibrant activities, including Vande Mataram singing, painting and essay writing competitions, quiz contests, plantation drives and cleanliness campaigns, truly reflecting the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”

The students at Government Higher Secondary School Girls Bhaderwah participated in Vande Mataram singing, painting and essay writing competitions and cleanliness drive. The celebration, held under the supervision of the School Principal Shafayat Ali, beautifully captured the essence of unity, creativity and national devotion, concluding with a group selfie at the “Vande Mataram 150 Selfie Point.”

Similarly, Government Higher Secondary School Boys Doda, under the guidance of Principal, Rishi Kumar, hosted Painting and Essay Writing Competitions. Students showcased their patriotism, artistic expression and understanding of India’s cultural and historical heritage through their creative works.

The Government Degree College Kastigarh, under the leadership of Principal, Prof. Koshal Mangotra, organized two major events — a Quiz Competition and a Plantation Drive themed “Salute the Mother Earth”. Students Chandanjeet Singh, Amir Hussain and Kavita Devi secured the top three positions in the quiz competition. The proceedings of the event were conducted by Dr. Arjun Singh, while the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Anupam Lata.

The Plantation Drive carried out on the College Campus aimed to promote environmental awareness and sustainability. Students actively participated by planting saplings and spreading the green message “Each One, Plant One” and “Save Tree, Save Life.”

GHSS Kandhote observed the celebration with a Cleanliness Drive symbolizing purity, unity, and national pride. Students and staff took a pledge to contribute to a Clean and Green India while singing Vande Mataram in unison, echoing the spirit of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Government High School Seri celebrated the day with patriotic songs, speeches, and dances highlighting the historical and emotional significance of Vande Mataram. The event concluded with energetic slogans of unity and memorable pictures at the “Vande Mataram 150 Selfie Point.”

The Bhartiya Vidya Mandir BhataParyote organized Painting and Essay Writing Competitions where students expressed their love for the nation through art and writing. The event concluded with the collective singing of Vande Mataram, reflecting the true spirit of national pride and harmony.

The widespread celebrations across District Doda not only paid glowing tribute to the 150 glorious years of Vande Mataram but also strengthened the values of patriotism, environmental awareness and social responsibility among students — a collective expression of India’s unity, pride and cultural richness.
