Srinagar: The 5th edition of the seven-day Kashmir World Film Festival (KWFF) concluded today with a vibrant closing ceremony and award presentation held in Srinagar. The festival, which showcased cinematic excellence from across the globe, culminated in a celebration of creativity, storytelling and cultural exchange.
DDC Chairperson Baramulla Safina Beig graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, lending prestige and encouragement to the festival’s mission of promoting independent cinema. Renowned personalities Reena Choudhary (politician and entrepreneur) and Lalit Parimoo (Bollywood) were present as Guests of Honour, adding further distinction to the event.
The day began with screenings of select films including In a Framework, 43, Matric Pass, Parenting Special Needs Children: Cerebral Palsy and Shushur, which captivated audiences with their compelling narratives and artistic depth. The afternoon was reserved for the much-anticipated award ceremony, where filmmakers were honoured across multiple categories such as Short Films, Short Documentary Films, Feature-Length Documentary Films and Feature Films.
The awards recognised outstanding contributions to cinema, celebrating both emerging talent and seasoned filmmakers. KWFF continues to serve as a vital platform for cinematic voices from Kashmir and beyond, fostering dialogue and appreciation for diverse storytelling traditions.
