Srinagar :Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a kidnapper and safely recovered the kidnapped girl (name withheld) from his possession after a swift and well-coordinated operation.
According to a police statement issued here on Thursday a special police team from Police Post Shadipora while acting on specific inputs traced out and apprehended the accused Firdous Rustum Khan S/o Rustum Ali Khan R/o Shatigam, Handwara from the State of Himachal Pradesh. The accused is a vagabond and was already married around ten years ago, having two children. The investigation further revealed that the accused had been using social media and other online platforms to lure girls.
After completing all medico-legal formalities, the recovered girl was handed over to her legal heirs. In this connection, a case FIR No. 185/2025, under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Ganderbal, and further investigation is in progress.
In its statement Police also appealed youth, to remain cautious while interacting with strangers on social media and immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
