Baramulla : To commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of national integration, the District Administration Baramulla Friday observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) with great enthusiasm and patriotic zeal.

The main event was held at the Government Degree College Ground, Baramulla, where Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, administered the Unity Pledge to a large gathering of participants including Students, Local Citizens, Officials and officers of Civil and police, reaffirming their commitment to uphold the unity, integrity, and security of the nation. Hundreds of students, officials, locals, and CRPF personnel participated in the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC highlighted the remarkable contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in uniting the nation and emphasized the need to carry forward his vision of a strong, united, and progressive India. He called upon the youth to emulate Patel’s ideals of dedication, discipline, and national service.

Following the pledge ceremony, the DC, accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh, flagged off a Padyatra from the College Ground to Dak Bungalow Baramulla. The rally, featuring enthusiastic participation from students and citizens carrying the National Flag and banners, reverberated with slogans promoting unity, peace, and brotherhood.

At Dak Bungalow, the DC along with SSP inspected stalls set up by various departments showcasing their initiatives and schemes aimed at public welfare, youth empowerment, and community development. The DC appreciated the efforts of the departments in spreading awareness about government programmes and urged officials to continue working with dedication towards inclusive development.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the aim of observing Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is to strengthen the bond of national integration and remind citizens of Sardar Patel’s unmatched role in unifying India.
