Pulwama Observes Rashtriya Ekta Diwas with Enthusiasm, DC Administers unity pledge, Flags off unity march & bike rally

Pulwama : District Administration Pulwama, in collaboration with Police, CRPF & Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) Pulwama (Department of Youth Affairs, Government of India), Friday organised a mega “Run for Unity” on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The event was held to honour Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s monumental contribution to the unification of India and to promote the spirit of unity, integrity, and national harmony.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Dr. Basharat Qayoom flagged off a vibrant bike rally, where participants proudly carried the National Flag, spreading the message of “Unity in Diversity.”

Following this, the Deputy Commissioner along with Senior Superintendent of Police, Pulwama, Tanushree, led a Unity March that commenced from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Pulwama and culminated at the District Police Lines (DPL) Pulwama.

The march witnessed overwhelming participation from all sections of society including elected representatives, social activists, NGOs, civil society members, trade union representatives, students, youth and local citizens.

At DPL Pulwama, a Unity Concert was also organised by Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), Pulwama, filling the atmosphere with energy and patriotic fervour through renditions of national songs while march-past featured contingents from Jammu Kashmir Police (JKP), Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)182/183 BN, and NCC Cadets among others.

Earlier in the day, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama administered the Ekta Pledge, reaffirming the commitment to preserve the unity, integrity, and security of the nation.

Meanwhile, similar Unity Runs and Pledge Ceremonies were held across the district at the sub-divisional & block levels.

Furthermore, a series of cultural programmes, seminars, essay competitions, and quiz contests on the life and legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel were organised across educational institutions in Pulwama district, engaging youth and students in understanding Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s vision of a united India.
