Ganderbal : Department of Kashmiri, School of Languages, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), in association with the Sahitya Akademi, organised a seminar on the life and works of the eminent Kashmiri poet Samad Mir at varsity’s Tulmulla campus here Thursday.
The seminar featured prominent figures in literature and academia, including Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath and various deans from the university, alongside notable poets and writers from the Kashmir Valley. Anupam Tiwari highlighted the significance of poet Samad Mir’s work, emphasizing its blend of spirituality and social reflection, and the importance of linguistic diversity in India. Dean of the School of Languages, Prof. Sandhya Tiwari, praised Mir’s use of metaphor and symbolism, announcing plans for a Centre for Translation Studies to enhance the accessibility of Kashmiri literature. Prof. Shahid Rasool, Dean of Academic Affairs, lamented the limited visibility of Mir’s literary contributions and advocated for digitization and publication efforts to preserve and promote Kashmiri heritage.
