Srinagar: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar recently held an orientation program for the newly admitted B.Tech. 2025 batch across all branches.
The event began with a welcome address from Director Prof. Binod Kumar Kanujia, who, along with Director I/C Dr. Roohie Naaz Mir and Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman, extended greetings to the new students. Prof. Atikur Rahman emphasized the significance of orientation programs in aiding students’ adaptation to the academic environment and culture at NIT Srinagar, highlighting their role in guiding students through their academic journey while inspiring excellence in research and personal development. The program was coordinated by Dr. Manoj Kumar, the First Year Coordinator, alongside branch sub-coordinators from various engineering disciplines. Students received a thorough introduction to the institution’s academic framework, rules, and support services. Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. B.A. Mir, elaborated on academic policies, while Dean of Student Welfare, Prof. Mohammad Abid Bazaz, discussed hostel and welfare activities. Heads of Departments introduced their branches, showcasing faculty expertise and laboratory facilities. Additionally, the Training and Placement Cell was presented by Prof. Ajaz Ahmed Mir, who outlined its crucial role in enhancing student employability through internships and campus placements. Students were also familiarized with various institutional units, including the Medical Unit, NCC Unit, SC/ST Cell, NSS Unit, and the Library. The orientation concluded with an interactive session, fostering a sense of awareness, enthusiasm, and belonging among the new students.
