Gool: Member Legislative Assembly Banihal Sajjad Shaheen Saturday inaugurated the blacktopping work on the Haroq–Karara via Ashmar Road, in the presence of DDC Chairperson Ramban Dr. Shamshad Shan. The much-awaited project spans a total length of 8 kilometers and has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of ₹91.89 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme.

Executive Engineer PMGSY Arth Gupta and AEE Naveen Aslam and many others were present.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA emphasized that the government is committed to improving rural connectivity and augmenting the quality of road infrastructure in far-flung areas. He said that better road connectivity not only ensures ease of travel but also plays a crucial role in promoting economic development, improving access to education and healthcare and improving the standard of living of rural residents.

The MLA directed the executing agency to adhere to quality standards and ensure timeline completion of the blacktopping word.

The DDC Chairperson also lauded the government for prioritizing infrastructure development in remote regions like Gool and Banihal. She said that such developmental works reflect the administration’s resolve to bring equitable growth and progress across all parts of the district.

Local residents expressed gratitude to the MLA and the District Administration for fulfilling their long-pending demand, noting that the project will significantly ease commuting and boost local economic activities in the area.
