JAMMU, Oct 10: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said that the terrorist network nurtured by enemies of the nation in Jammu and Kashmir has almost been crippled and reiterated Narendra Modi Government’s unwavering commitment to achieve the goal of a terror-free UT.
Shah today chaired a high-level security review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi which was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, Army chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, Director Generals of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and other senior officers from the Government of India, Army and J&K administration.

The winter management strategy with regard to ensuring zero infiltration and eliminating terrorists in the hinterland surfaced in the meeting chaired by the Home Minister.

Addressing the meeting, Shah reaffirmed the Narendra Modi Government’s commitment to achieve the goal of terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir.

“Due to determined efforts of security agencies, the terrorist network nurtured by enemies of the nation in Jammu and Kashmir has almost been crippled,” the Home Minister said and assured that all necessary resources will continue to be provided to sustain these efforts.

He said that security forces will continue to have full freedom of action to crush any attempt to threaten peace and security in the region.

Shah emphasized the vital role of all security agencies in working in coordinated and vigilant manner to eliminate terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir. With the onset of winter, he said, security forces must remain fully prepared to ensure that the terrorists don’t exploit snowfall to infiltrate from across the border.

The Home Minister appreciated the steps taken by the UT administration and security agencies in the aftermath of April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians including 25 tourists and a local were killed.
“Steps taken by the UT administration and security agencies have helped strengthen overall security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir,” Shah said.

“Reviewed the security of Jammu and Kashmir along with the Lt. Governor and other senior officials. We are committed to cripple the terror ecosystem in J&K. Our security forces will continue to have full freedom to crush any attempt to threaten peace and security in the region. Instructed to further intensify alertness and synergy to accelerate towards Narendra Modi’s vision of a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir,” the Home Minister said in a message on ‘X’.

The last such review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir was chaired by Shah in Jammu during his two-day visit to the region on August 31 and September 1 post damages caused by the floods.

Post Pahalgam terror attack in April, there are continuous operations to dismantle the terror network in the UT and bring tourism in the region back to normalcy. Relentless anti-terror operations are being pursued by security agencies in different areas of Jammu and Kashmir especially the hilly belts to eliminate the terrorists.

The Counter-Infiltration Grid has further been strengthened all along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) to ensure that the terrorists don’t manage to infiltrate.

“On the one side, the Central Government wants to ensure zero infiltration from the borders and on the other it wants that the terrorists hiding in the hinterland are eliminated,” the officials said, adding security agencies are sure to achieve successes on both the fronts.
